Cave Archeology
Celebrating the 28th edition of European Heritage Days 2022 in Romania, we invite you at the opening of the exhibition Cave Archeology – Research in the endokarst of the Bihor Mountains, Pădurea Craiului and Plopiș Mountains, which will take place on Saturday, September 10, 2022, from 12.00, at the Țării Crișurilor Museum (Armatei Române street, no. 1/A), in the temporary exhibition hall of the Ethnographic Department.
The exhibition presents the results of interdisciplinary archaeological research from: Coliboaia, Ciur Izbuc, Igrița, Meziad, Izbucu Topliței, Subpiatră, Șuticoasa, Vacii, Unguru Mare and Mișid caves. Such archaeological investigations were conducted out in the framework of various projects carried out in partnership with institutions from the country and abroad.
Archaeological artefacts, photo-documentary materials will be exhibited and new applications of the 3D scanner in the underground will be presented, seen as methods of evidence of the cave’s heritage and as non-invasive research methods.
